Microsoft Teams Phone Reporting: Data Types and Statistics Guide

Background 

Variphy can provide the following data types and statistics that offer key metrics or statistical data points to identify call counts, percentages of total, total and average call durations, and total and average ring durations.

This information helps classify and describe the call:

  • Did the call connect?
  • Was it answered, not connected, or went to voicemail?
  • Was it a video call, or was screen sharing used?
  • Was it of short, medium, or long duration?

By classifying call scenarios in call analytics, you can compute and identify statistics for the call scenarios that are important to you, such as the # of Connected vs. Not Connected Calls, Answered vs. Voicemail, and more. 

Microsoft Teams Call Scenario Types

Scenario NameDefinition
Total CallsAll calls for the specified search set criteria (original search results) and the combination of the Connected and Not Connected calls.
Group CallsCalls in which more than two people are on the call. This can also represent the voice portion of a meeting.
Peer to Peer CallsCalls in which two people are on the call.
Video CallsCalls in which video is being used as one of the modalities of the call.
Screen Share CallsCalls in which video screen sharing is being used as one of the modalities of the call.
Connected CallsCalls that were connected to a callee.
Not Connected CallsCalls that were not connected to a callee.
Answered CallsConnected calls that were not answered by a voicemail port or device (e.g., not a voicemail call).
Voicemail CallsCalls that are answered by a voicemail port or device, regardless of duration.
Long Duration CallsCalls in which the duration is greater than or equal to the specified long call duration. The default duration is 1 hour (3600 seconds).
Medium Duration CallsCalls that did connect but are neither “long” nor “short” in duration.
Short Duration CallsCalls in which the duration is less than or equal to the specified short call duration. The default duration is 10 seconds.

Microsoft Teams Summary Data Types

Summary data types can be found under the Search Set Statistics and represent Total, Percent & Averages based on the defined search set(s).

Total Calls: The total number of individual call legs identified by the search set criteria.

  • Total Call Count
  • Total Session Count: The total number of call sessions that make up one or more call legs that are identified by the search set criteria.
  • Total Call Duration
  • Total Average Call Duration
  • Max Call Duration
  • Average Session Duration
  • Originating Cal %: Percentage of calls as compared to the total calls identified by the search set criteria, based on the total call count.
  • Originating Max Call Duration
  • Terminating Call %: Percentage of calls as compared to the total calls identified by the search set criteria, based on the total call count.
  • Terminating Max Call Duration

Group Calls: Calls in which more than two people are on the call. This can also represent the voice portion of a meeting.

Peer to Peer Calls: Calls in which two people are on the call.

  • Peer to Peer Call %: Percentage of calls as compared to the total calls identified by the search set criteria, based on total call count.

Video Calls: Calls in which video is being used as one of the modalities of the call.

  • Video Call %: Percentage of calls as compared to the total calls identified by the search set criteria, based on total call count.

Screen Sharing Calls: Calls in which video screen sharing is being used as one of the modalities of the call.

  • Screen Sharing Call Count
  • Screen Sharing Call %: Percentage of calls as compared to the total calls identified by the search set criteria, based on total call count.
  • Total Screen Sharing Call Duration
  • Average Screen Sharing Call Duration
  • Max Screen Sharing Call Duration

Connected Calls: Calls in which a start time was established regardless of duration, and the combination of Answered and Voicemail Calls.

  • Connected Call Count
  • Connected Call %: Percentage of calls as compared to the total calls identified by the search set criteria, based on total call count.
  • Connected Call Total Duration
  • Connected Call Average Duration

Not Connected Calls: Calls in which no connection was established, including abandoned calls.

  • Not Connected Call Count
  • Not Connected Call %: Percentage of calls as compared to the total calls identified by the search set criteria, based on total call count.

Answered Calls: Connected calls that were not answered by a voicemail (e.g., not a voice mail call).

  • Answered Call Count
  • Answered Call %: Percentage of calls as compared to the total calls identified by the search set criteria, based on total call count.
  • Answered Call Total Duration
  • Answered Call Average Duration

Voicemail Calls: Calls answered by voicemail and a voicemail connection was established.

  • Voicemail Call Count
  • Voicemail Call %: Percentage of calls as compared to the total calls identified by the search set criteria, based on total call count.
  • Voicemail Call Total Duration
  • Voicemail Call Average Duration

Long Duration Calls: Calls in which the duration is greater than or equal to the specified long call duration filter used in the report. The default long duration is 1 hour (3600 seconds).

  • Long Duration Call %: Percentage of calls as compared to the total calls identified by the search set criteria, based on total call count.

Medium Duration Calls: Calls in which the duration is between the specific short and long call duration filter input in the report. The default short duration is 10 seconds and long duration is 1 hour (3600 seconds).

Short Duration Calls: Calls in which the duration is less than or equal to the specified short call duration filter input in the report. The default duration is 10 seconds.

Call Statistics Grouping Options

Similar to summary data types, grouping statistics can be found under the Grouping Statistics screen within the reports and represent Total, Percent & Averages based on the primary and secondary grouping types, NOT on the total search set selected.
